Ordering Adjectives Grammatically

Lesson:

How to order adjectives in English make you list them:

1. Quantity or number

2. Quality or opinion

3. Size

4. Age

5. Shape

6. Colour

7. Proper adjective (often nationality, other place of origin, or material)

8. Purpose or qualifier

Then add the noun.

Examples:

1. The mother loves her two (quantity) beautiful (quality) little (size) girls.

2. On Halloween I left a large (size) old (age) orange (colour) basket filled with fifty (number) full-sized (size) chocolate (proper adjective) bars.

Pick out the adjectives

1. For Valentine's Day I bought an (quantity) amazing (quality) new (age) heart-shaped (shape) red and white (colour) sofa.
